Verbum Dei Missionary Family Symposium
18th-28th July 2009
The VDMFa Symposium was held in Siete Aguas (Valencia, Spain). The aim of the Symposium, which was an initiative from the Verbum Dei Congress in 2007, is to reflect on the Verbum Dei Missionary Family and to aid in the understanding and growth of this reality in the different continents. 72 members of the Verbum Dei Family have participated in this Symposium.
Welcome to the 1st Symposium of the Verbum Dei Missionary Family!
The Symposium has just started… and people from almost 23 countries (because not all have arrived) are here in Siete Aguas praying! Before all the work that awaits us we decided to let God speak to our hearts, to our minds in the silence of prayer. So please pray for us so that God can fill us with his Spirit!
People have been arriving throughout the week full of enthusiasm, eagerness and a bit overwhelmed with the task that lies ahead of all!
It’s amazing to see so many people from all around the world feeling at home because we are all Verbum Dei. The same charism unites us and it can be noticed!
Now even in the quiet, a nice atmosphere can be experienced… a prayerful silence, communitarian prayers, smiles, a willingness to help and a brightness on everyone’s face… “I will take you from the nations, and gather you from all the countries, and bring you into your own land.” (Ez 36:24)
We know we have been called by God. “Listen to me, O coastlands, pay attention, you peoples from far away! The LORD called me before I was born, while I was in my mother's womb he named me. He made my mouth like a sharp sword, in the shadow of his hand he hid me; he made me a polished arrow, in his quiver he hid me away.” (Is 49,1-2).
And we also know that he calls us for one Hope, in one Spirit, and for one Mission… to be more and more the Verbum Dei Missionary Family God wants us to be.
