Vocation is not imposed from above, but a call to construct one’s immediate future in a dialogue with God. In a general sense: Natural tendencies, abilities, and/or aspirations which orientate one’s life realization and goals. In a specific sense: A special call from God to Religious life, priesthood, or marriage.

According to Vat II: “True human life is a vocation” (GS, LG)
In the plan of God every person is called because every life is a vocation (PP)

It is a process of discerning:
• one’s general vocation (painter, artist, psychologist etc.)
• one’s state of life (married or consecrated)
• And in a more biblical sense God’s call and election for a specific mission within his plan of salvation.
